The Lotus House Team is an award winning, multidisciplinary team of professionals in wide ranging fields from behavioral health, social services, education and programming to building services, engineering, accounting, information management, and the culinary arts. Over a third of this dedicated team consists of alumni of the Lotus House Program supporting in-take, operations, culinary services, programming and health and wellness. Lotus House possesses the highest rating of Four Stars from Charity Navigator and Platinum Status with GuideStar. It has received accreditation in Behavioral Health - Community Housing for Adults, Children and Adolescents from CARF, the internationally recognized, independent accrediting nonprofit organization setting the gold standard in health and human services providers committed to continuous improvement.

The Executive Team of the Lotus House Program is headed by Constance Collins, President and Executive Director of the Sundari Foundation, Inc. dba Lotus House Women’s Shelter (Lotus House Program), and supported by Director Isabella Dell'Oca, Deputy Director and Associate General Counsel Etta Akoni, Deputy Director of Development and Community Outreach Beatrice Gonzalez, Deputy Director of Operations Katy Roth, and Deputy Director of Programming Margo Hannah, and the esteemed Board of the Foundation. The Board of the Foundation includes a diverse range of professionals and community leaders that bring a wealth of experience, expertise, time, treasure, compassion and passion to the Foundation’s mission.

Community Outreach Team

The efforts of the Community Outreach Team are led by Deputy Director Beatrice Gonzalez, BA, and supported by Research and Program Development Director Donna MacDonald, MHSc and Assistant Director Victoria Valera. They are responsible for researching and developing the many trauma informed, evidence based and informed best practices and innovation that have made the Lotus House Program a national model, as well as identifying and securing the resources needed for implementation of Lotus House’s innovative programs.

Intake and Victim Services Team

The Intake and Victim Services Team, headed up by Director Laura Klinefelter, LMHC, and Acting Director Melisa Alonso, MHC, provide a trauma-informed welcoming process for accessing Lotus House’s life saving program and connecting victims of domestic and intimate violence and other crimes to life changing resources.

Children's Services Team

The Children's Services Team, headed up by Program Director Shana Cox, LCSW, PsyD, provides evidence based, individual assessments for every child upon entry into the shelter to gain a deep understanding of the developmental status, social and emotional needs and trauma history of every child so that services can be tailored to their individual needs.

Families Team

The Families Program Team, headed up by Program Director Stephanie Padro, LMFT, and supported by Assistant Director Kathleen Ortuno, LMHC, and Diagnostic Specialist Michelle Firot, PsyD, and a team of professional counselors, conduct special needs assessments for every family upon entry into the shelter to gain a deep understanding of their overall health and wellbeing, mental health needs, strengths and challenges, histories of victimization and trauma, education and employment status, and housing goals so that services can be tailored to their individual needs.

Singles and Youth Team

The Singles and Youth Program Team, headed up by Program Director Gabrielle Contreras, LCSW, and supported by Assistant Director Melisa Alonso, MHC, and Diagnostic Specialist  Michelle Firot, PsyD, and a team of professional counselors, conduct special needs assessments for every woman and youth (both single and parenting youth) upon entry into the shelter to gain a deep understanding of their overall health and wellbeing, mental health needs, strengths and challenges, histories of victimization and trauma, education and employment status, and housing goals so that services can be tailored to their individual, and, in the case of youth with children, family needs.

Community Health and Recovery Support Team

The Community Health Team is currently headed by Assistant Director Meliss Cabrera-Matiz, RN, BSN, advances the safety, health and wellness of our entire Lotus House community, conducting critical public health screening for contagious diseases, linkages to medical and mental health providers, and important public health and wellness education. The Recovery Support Team, headed by Director Rai Johnson, LCSW, offers person-centered recovery supports and individual and group counseling for those with substance abuse histories to help them achieve and maintain sobriety on their path to whole health and wellness. 

Operations Team

The Operations Team, headed by Operations Director Katherine Roth, BS, EIT, LEED AP: BD+C, and supported by Directors Carole Jordan BA, Monyia Knights, Georgette Madison, Sharonee Delevante, and Runisha Johnson continuously strive to provide a trauma informed and welcoming environment for the women, youth and children sheltered in the Lotus House Program.

Culinary Team

The Culinary Team, headed by Culinary Center Director and Chef Genivieve Blair and supported by Program Director Chef Betty Forcer, lovingly prepares and serves healthful, nutritious meals to over 500 women and children daily, as well as a few extra meals for our impoverished neighbors in Overtown.

Employment and Education Team

The multifaceted Education, Employment and Programming of Lotus House is headed by Programming Deputy Director Margo Hannah, BA, and supported by Employment Director Nicole Burke, BA and certified teacher, and Assistant Employment Director Cynthia Perez, BA, as well as Assistant Education Director Treaune Knights, BA and certified teacher.

Programming Team

The Programming Team, led by Deputy Director of Programming Margo Hannah, BA, offers women, youth and children holistic pathways for healing, creative expression, social engagement and empowerment as a vital component of the supportive services of Lotus House. We know that “play” is a child’s work, and that enriched play can offer opportunities for developing trust, self-esteem, conscience, empathy, problem solving, focused learning and self-control.

About Quality Assurance, Data Management, and Reporting Team

The Quality Assurance, Data Management and Reporting Team (Quality Assurance Team), headed by Director Grants Management, Quality Assurance and Reporting Marta Vega, BS, and supported by Director of Quality Assurance Marie Alcineus, BA, is responsible for assuring the highest quality in the Foundation’s data management and timely, accurate, and full performance, compliance, and reporting for all grants, contracts, and funding sources of the Foundation.

Human Resources, Fiscal and Operations Support Team

Warm, talented and ever enthusiastic, Yonaira Hernandez, BS Human Resources, is the Foundation’s Human Resource Director supporting the its hardworking, dedicated and diverse team, overseeing recruitment, administering benefits, assuring a high level of culturally competent and sensitive training, and for the shelter’s overall human resources compliance and reporting. The Foundation’s Fiscal Team, headed by Finance Director, Joseph Browne, BAc, CPA, supports the Lotus House Program by providing transparency and fiscal accountability in its business and operations, carefully stewarding its resources with valued oriented procurement, and maximizing utilization of grants and other contractual funding sources in accordance with their terms.

Lotus House Donations Center and Thrift Team

The Lotus House Thrift Store, LLC, a nonprofit subsidiary of the main Foundation, is managed by Assistant Director and alumna Ronide Blanc and supported by Donations Manager Radhames Hernandez.
