Domestic violence is a lead cause of homelessness for women and children. Lotus House stands at the intersection of these two systems.  Lotus House Executive Director serves on the Miami-Dade County Domestic Violence Oversight Board and chaired the Gaps and Needs Workgroup in 2019-2020, conducting extensive research into our community’s response and continuum of care. The report which follows makes it clear – domestic violence is an urgent public health issue, disproportionately impacting women, with life-long adverse and too often lethal consequences. Emergency shelter with deep protective factors and therapeutic supports for women and children alike are essential and nothing short of life saving.
