How to Become a Volunteer

Volunteers play an essential role in everything we do here at Lotus House. From helping serve a meal, organizing a supply closet, to hosting a workshop or activity- volunteers make a life changing difference in the lives of the women and children we shelter. Below are the steps to get started:

  1. All interested volunteers are required to create an account with POINT and completed required paperwork and waivers clicking the button below. Please note volunteers must be 8 or over, with the exception of our kitchen where volunteers must be at least 13.

  2. After review and approval, you will receive and email stating that you are able to schedule you volunteer hours. 

    • After 10 hours your access to schedule volunteer days will be paused on POINT and someone from our team will reach out with steps to complete a background check.

If you are interested in hosting a workshop or an activity for our guests, please email [email protected] after you have your POINT account set up to schedule your volunteer day. 

Please note that completing our application does not guarantee a volunteer position as volunteer hours are subject to approval and availability.

Before You Arrive: Volunteer Day Details

  • Parking: Parking is limited. Free street parking is available along NW 2nd Avenue and NW 14th Terrace. Please do not park in the staff lot on NW 15th Street before 4:00 PM.
  • Arrival: When you arrive, ring the doorbell located to the left of the main entrance and let our team know you’re here to volunteer.
  • Check-In: Please sign into POINT on one of the iPads at the front desk. After checking in, the front desk team can direct you to your volunteer area. If they are assisting someone else, please wait patiently.
  • Check-Out: Before leaving, be sure to sign out on the iPad so we can accurately record your volunteer hours.
  • Volunteering at Lotus House Thrift: The address is 2040 NW 7th Ave, Miami, FL 33127. Parking is limited. Paid street parking is available along NW 21st St. Please introduce yourself to a staff member and sign into POINT on one of our iPads.
  • Volunteer Hour Verification: If you need volunteer hours verified by a signature, please bring your printed volunteer log every time you volunteer with us and have the staff member supervising your shift sign it before you leave.
